No Other Mighty Ones

No doubt about it, fall is definitely here. I praise my Abba YAHWEH as He continues to paint my neighborhood ushering in vibrant and energetic colors I have never seen before in person. Everything He has shown me this past year, good and bad has all been humbling and strengthening; but I would be remiss to only communicate the good. It is in the difficult times I find that I learn the most. So let’s get into it.

As I continue to work my way through the book of Sirach, I realize it’s an enlightening book of teachings or advice if you will, on how to handle the day to day in making wise decisions; really getting into the details of our lives. I have been drowning myself in this beautiful book of wisdom, observing my life and the world around me, realizing the slight neglect I have given to the Commandments due to a conversation I had with a Christian on Instagram today. I find that when spreading the Besorah (Good News) on social media, with Christians, the focus always seems to be centered on the 4th Commandment. I’m sure it’s because it’s the hardest to keep with the way the world is today. People have jobs where they have to work on the 7th day of the week, they do work around the house, and have lunch with friends and family. A real life change is required of most to keep this day set apart for YAHWEH and many find this to be a challenge for fear of losing some of the the very things I’ve mentioned. However there are 9 others, that at first glance I believed were relatively easy to keep, but in reading scripture for myself and now having a better understanding of our Creator YAHWEH; real change is necessary when attempting to keep them all.

Now, let’s have a detailed look at the first one. Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other els (gods) except me. Aramaic Peshitta, Deuteronomy 5:7 You shall have have no other els (gods) besides me. Aramaic Peshitta. Then there is my all time favorite translation Exodus 20:3 You have no other mighty ones against My face. HalleuYAH Scriptures Deuteronomy 5:7 You have no other mighty ones against My face. HalleluYAH Scriptures. I like the HalleluYAH Scriptures translation because instead of this verse including the word “shall”, which implies we have many els (gods) to choose from to worship, it has more of a matter of fact affirming tone that He is not only our El, but THE ELOHIM and there is no other in existence to choose from. This translation communicates that He is it, the only, and even if we think we are worshiping another el, we are 1. Breaking this Commandment and 2. What we are worshiping is not ELOHIM (God) or an el (god). OK, so if we are not worshiping the only 1 true ELOHIM then what are we worshiping? 🤔

Well, I can attest to the fact that I used to worship many things none of which were an el (god). I worshiped friends, clubbing, clothes, boyfriends, my parents, school, eating, television, celebrities, money, work, the list goes on and on. All these things, I was closer to than I was to my ELOHIM. Although I was a christian believing in “Jesus” (YESHUA), living in the world, I was living just like the world. I was a real life example of YESHUA’S parable in Matthew 13:24-30 (I will list it below) If I had continued to live in this manner and died, praise YAHWEH I did not, I would have experienced this verse Matthew 7:22-23 A great many will say to me in that day, My Mari, My Mari did we not prophesy in your name and in your name cast out devils and in Your name do many wonders? 23: Then I will declare to them I have never known you; keep away from me, O you that work iniquity. What was my iniquity? Having other els before YAHWEH, and since He is the one and only true EL, ELOHIM, what then was I really worshiping? Satan.

You see, a fence only has 2 sides and we are now living in the days where the tares are beginning to show and will be revealed on one side of that fence. It’s time to look in the mirror to see if we look like the wheat on one side of the fence, or the tares on the other. If tares are springing up in our hairs we must identify and remove them. Is it tiktok stealing our time from YAHWEH or are we making worldly videos causing others to stumble? Are we working to obtain all the world has to offer but neglecting what our Creator has already given us? Is there something in our lives taking precedence over our time with YAHWEH, do we go to others for advice or counsel rather than going to Him? Would we rather hang out with friends and family rather than spend time with Him? All of these actions cause us to be the tares, and if any of this is in your life, time to clean it up, let it go and get over to the other side of that fence where the wheat is. Now, there may be some who rather sit on the fence instead of choosing a side. However remaining on the fence is still choosing satan because He owns the fence. YESHUA mentioned these people as well; Revelation 3:16 So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue you out of my mouth.

To conclude, let’s not be tares and let’s not be spit out of YESHUA’S mouth. I go through my life with a fine tooth comb and I still find tangles to unravel. The point is to look for these tangles, ask for forgiveness when they are found, REPENT, and then unravel them. I know this sounds difficult, but as James stated in James 1:22-25 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves, 23: For if any be a hearer of the world and not a doer, he is like a man who sees his face in a mirror 24: For he sees himself and goes his way and forgets how he looked 25: But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty and abides in it is not merely a hearer of the word which can be forgotten but a doer of the work, and this man shall be blessed in his labor. If we apply this verse being hearers and doers of the word, then we are most certainly to as well be like Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through MASHIACH who strengthens me.

Shalom & Berekah!
